Art Paris Art Fair 201328 March–1 April 2013

Opening: 27 March 2013

Grand Palais
Avenue Winston-Churchill
75008 Paris, France

The springtime event for modern and contemporary art
Held from 28 March to 1 April 2013, Art Paris Art Fair brings together 120 international galleries under the majestic roof of the Grand Palais. The fair presents a wide range of modern and contemporary works and is open to all forms of artistic practice and all categories of visitors. A series of talks and a VIP programme for collectors entitled “Springtime in Paris” will focus on the best of contemporary art and contribute to highlight the role of Paris a one of Europe’s leading capitals for art.

A European fair with a focus on what is new on the international scene
Building on the success of the 2012 edition, Art Paris Art Fair is reinforcing its unique identity by focussing not only on the art scenes of Europe, but also on the creativity coming out of other regions of the world such as Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

The fair’s exploration of the artistic scenes of Europe is an opportunity to (re)visit some of the major artistic movements of the 20th century that continue to influence the artists of today. Another objective is to showcase the diversity and specificity of the artistic scenes from all over Europe.

In this respect, the fair continues to look to the east of the continent and will showcase Russia in 2013.

Promises: a new section for young galleries
In 2013 Art Paris Art Fair is introducing a new section called Promises. The section is reserved for young galleries that have been established for five years or less and have never shown at Art Paris Art Fair. A special sponsored rate will apply.

Limited Edition: exploring the relationship between art and contemporary design
Launched in 2012, this space covering 350 square meters is dedicated to the exploration of the relationship and cross-over between contemporary art and design. It is reserved for selected cutting-edge galleries presenting exclusive and unique pieces made by contemporary talents.

Winner of the Golden Lion award at the 2011 Venice Biennale, Christian Marclay's The Clock is a cinematic tour de force that unfolds on the screen in real time through thousands of film excerpts that form a 24-hour montage. Appropriated from the last 100 years of cinema’s rich history, the film clips chronicle the hours and minutes of the 24-hour period, often by displaying a watch or clock. The Clock incorporates scenes of everything from car chases and board rooms to emergency wards, bank heists, trysts, and high-noon shootouts.

Christian Marclay—The Clock will be shown in the Museum’s Contemporary Galleries during public hours throughout its run, and is free with Museum admission. Admission to the installation, which will seat 130 visitors at a time, is on a first-come, first-served basis, with no time limits for viewers. On December 31, MoMA presents a special New Year’s Eve showing of the work in its entirety, which will be the first opportunity for the public to view all 24 hours of the piece at MoMA.

The Clock will also be shown uninterrupted on three weekends:

Friday, January 4, 10:30 a.m–Sunday, January 6, 5:30 p.m.

Friday, January 11, 10:30 a.m–Sunday, January 13, 5:30 p.m.

Friday, January 18, 10:30 a.m–Sunday, January 20, 5:30 p.m.
